Basket Block
12 " finished
Cut:
12--3 1/2" x 3 1/2" Background
7 --3 1/2" x 3 1/2" Red
1--7 1/2" x 6 1/2" Red
1--7 1/2" x 6 1/2" Background
(We are using the half-square triangle method, and you will have one left.)
Step One
Follow the directions for the Half
Square Triangle BUT--make your starting square our 7 1/2" squares.
When finished, press very carefully, and then trim down to 6 1/2" x 6 1/2".
You will end up with 2 units--set one aside for another basket.
Step Two
Take the 8--3 1/2" x 3 1/2" reds and 8 of
the 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" Background, and sew together using the Flying
Geese method.
You will want to be very careful about pressing, as these can get distorted
very easily!
Step Three
Take 4 of the units created in the step above, and assemble as shown.
Then take 2 of the units created in step two, and 2-- 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" Background squares, and assemble as shown.
Step Four
Assemble the block as shown below. It is helpful to lay out your block and assemble in rows.
