Julie’s Knitted Hitty Dress

   
The shorter dress can be made by knitting fewer rows in the skirt.


For this project, you will need:

2--Size 2 Single-Pointed Knitting Needles
Palette Fingering Yarn as follows:
Color 1: Main color  (Cream)
Color 2: Accent Stripes  (Cranberry)
4--Stitch Markers 
snaps or buttons 

PM= place marker
RM=Remove Marker
Inc=Increase
BO=Bind Off
CO=Cast On
Stockinet St= Knit one row, Pearl one row
Seed Stitch: k1, P1 across, turn, P1, K1 across

 


With Color 1, CO 16

Rows 1+2: Seed Stitch

Row 3: P4, PM, P2, PM, P4, PM, P2, PM, P4

Row 4: K across, increasing Before and After each marker

Row 5:  P across

Row 6: K Inc row as in Row 4

Row 7:  P across

Row 8: K Inc row as in Row 4

Row 9:  P across

Row 10:  K7, RM, BO9, RM, K9, RM, BO9, RM, K to end

Row 11: P7, CO 3, P across to other armhole space, CO 3, P to end

Row 12:  K across

Row 13: Attach Color 2, but do not end off Color 1.  Let it hang.  P across With Color 2

Row 14:  K across, end off Color 2, pick up Color 1

Row 15:  P across with color 1

Row 16:  across

Row 17:  P across

Row 18: K2, Inc 1, across

Row 19:  P across

Row 20:  K2, Inc 1, across

Row 21: P across

Row 22:  K4, inc 1 across

Row 23:  P across

Row 24—29:  Work in Stockinet St, ending with a K row to work next Row

Row  31:  K across. Drop color 1, attach Color 2 for next row

Row 35:  K across.  Drop Color 2 (but do not end off), pick up Color 1 for next row

BO in Pearl row with Color 2

Weave in all yarn ends.  Wrong sides together, sew up the back seam to the waist.  
Use a snap or button to fasten the top of the back.  Block before using so the hem doesn’t curl up.
